Take some time to pamper yourself with a Jewel Box set of luxury fiber blends! Each 1-oz bump is beautifully dyed after a particular gemstone, and packaged in a luxe clear jewel-box to highlight your treasures.
Luxury blends of super-soft, short-staple fibers like Cashmere, Camel, and Yak plus strong, long-staple, lustrous silk are the best of both worlds - incredible softness, and relatively simple drafting due to the combination of the short and long fibers. For super fine lace spinning, we recommend drafting against twist in either a short or a long draw - the twist keeps the fibers from sliding too quickly through your fingers and makes for a very pleasant spin.
Each kit contains 1oz each of Moonstone, Lapis, and Peridot, as well as a 4th oz which you choose - Amethyst Merino/Tussah, or Topaz Yak/Silk for a wool-free option. Specify your choice above before adding to cart!
Contains:
- 1oz 50/50 Cashmere/Mulberry Silk in "Moonstone"
- 1oz 50/50 Baby Black Alpaca/Tussah Silk in "Lapis"
- 1oz 50/50 Baby Camel/Tussah in "Peridot"
- 1oz 70/30 Superfine Grey Merino/Tussah in "Amethyst" (purple) or 1oz 50/50 Yak/Silk in "Topaz" (orange) [choose option above before adding to cart]
Classy Squid Fiber Co. fibers are designed to provide a wonderful spinning experience, but would also be gorgeous if used for felted designs or as accents in weaving. My Polwarth & Falkland wools are sourced from the Falkland Islands, UK, where the sheep are raised free of pesticides & chemicals in a pristine environment. All raw wools were scoured using Unicorn Power Scour. Fibers are hand-dyed by Amanda in a smoke-free, pet-free studio using professional grade acid dyes. We do our utmost to run our dyeing studio in an environmentally-friendly manner.
To care for your creations and avoid felting, hand-wash your items in warm (not hot) water with a mild wool wash such as Eucalan or Soak, without agitation, and allow to air-dry.
All fibers are rinsed after dyeing until the water runs clear, but variations in water content may cause some fibers to tint your washwater when setting your handspun yarns. This is harmless and should not indicate any fading of the color in your item.
