Wensleydale is a very heavy, long-stapled fiber, which is extremely silky, strong, resilient, and full of drape. It has a lower crimp than your typical fine-wool, and can be spun worsted to enhance the dense silky drape or long-draw with a low twist to preserve a fine halo. Expand your spinning horizons! Remember to hold your hands further apart, and explore long-draw rather than short-draw techniques. Wensleydale is also excellent for felting - my source claims that this wool is the *only* wool to use for cobweb-thin nuno-felted scarves.
Classy Squid Fiber Co. fibers are designed to provide a wonderful spinning experience, but would also be gorgeous if used for felted designs or as accents in weaving. Fibers are hand-dyed by me, Amanda, in my smoke-free, pet-free studio using professional grade acid dyes. I do my utmost to run my dyeing studio in an environmentally-friendly manner.
To care for your creations and avoid felting, hand-wash your items in warm (not hot) water with a mild wool wash such as Eucalan or Soak, without agitation, and allow to air-dry.
